A Word from Carol

Checking the Comparables

To take much of the guesswork out of your consideration about whether a particular property is a good investment, you can check on the actual selling price of similar homes in the neighborhood.

Ask your real estate agent to tell you about comparable homes of equivalent square footage, condition and quality as the home you like. Some sales information, such as the selling price, the financing terms, and the transaction dates, is available to the public. Your agent will have record of all recent sales, and can tell

Homes Get More High Tech

(by Realtor.Org)

Will homes soon be powered and operated all from a smartphone?

"There are smarter phones, so why not smarter homes?" Alexander Ljung, SoundCloud CEO, told USA Today. "It's perhaps natural that the phone is a remote control for a lot of things. Touch-screens are replacing buttons."

Basic Tips In Caring For Your Persian Cat

One of the most loved breed of cats is the Persian cat. Despite them being just another breed of cats doesn’t necessarily mean that taking care of them is just as easy a regular short-hair cat. In fact, because of their fluffy and extra long fur, extra care should be given to ensure they remain healthy and their fur remain soft and shiny.

The basics are essentially the same: a litter box is necessary and proper potty training should be exercised as early as possible. The litter box can be unscented as perfumes may drive cats away due (More)

Orchids: Exotic and Easy to Grow
 (by Home Depot)

For all their exotic beauty, many orchids are surprisingly easy to grow. With over 30,000 hybrids to choose from, and orchids native to every continent but Antarctica, there’s something for everyone. The key is choosing a plant that can flourish in the average home. Read the care label when you’re shopping for these spectacular plants.

you how properties in your local area have been appreciating. Don't rely on figures quoted by friends and neighbors, who often exaggerate, have misinformation, and confuse asking prices with actual sales prices.

Driving by equivalent homes can also give you ideas about how they compare with the property you are considering. Your real estate agent may have seen these homes and can give you additional information to help you make a decision.

A range of home devices could soon all be controlled by a phone or tablet, from kitchen appliances to washers and dryers, lights, pools, and windows, says tech experts.

Major tech companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Samsung are eyeing home technology as a booming business and are introducing a range of products for wired and automated homes. For example in May, Microsoft debuted an operating Read More

Caring For Your Pregnant Dog

Whether it’s a planned pregnancy for your dog or not, it is important that pregnant dogs are given extra care to ensure they give birth safely to healthy puppies. First thing’s first: if you have a female dog, ensure they don’t get pregnant until they are at least 1 year old. This ensures they are old enough to give a successful birth and still not puppies themselves. If you’re going for a planned pregnancy, first take your dog to a veterinarian to ensure they are ready and receive proper examination.

A pregnant dog requires extra nutrition, especially ones that undergo late pregnancy. Nursing dogs further (More)

If you’re just starting with orchids, try a phalaenopsis. These “moth orchids” bloom from winter to early spring, producing long stems of flowers that can last for an incredible 80 to 120 days (although exposure to smoke, gases from stoves, and other factors can shorten the bloom time). Look for them in snowy white, butter yellow, pale pink, lavender, and other gorgeous colors.

Sudoku The New Addiction!

Just in case you've never played before. The object of the game is to fit the numbers 1-9 in the correct orders.

You need to fill a number from 1 to 9 in every blank cell.  A number must appear only once in each row, column and 3x3 block.

Sounds easy enough.

Don't give up. Once you get the hang of it, its very fun and challenges your brain.

(If you don't see the game on the left  please try refreshing your screen. You can use F5 or your refresh button.)
