A Word from Carol Children And Moves When you decide it’s time to move, it is important to involve your children in the process. Depending on the reason for the move and the distance, moving can cause some concerns for children that parents may not be sensitive to right away. Moving often means going to a new school, leaving favorite playmates, and feeling a lot of uncertainty about what the new neighborhood will be like. Things will go a lot easier if your children support your efforts to get your current home sold. It is important to encourage the children to participate in selling the house

Tips For Indoor Cats If you are considering getting a cat or kitten as an indoor pet, there are some things you need to consider. Choosing a good cat litter and spaying or neutering your kitten should be on the list. You may also want to consider getting your kitten declawed. Choosing a good cat litter is very important, especially if you already have other cats or if you are planning on getting more than one cat or kitten. You will want to find a clumping cat litter to make the task of cleaning the litter box easier. If you plan to have more than one cat, be sure to get a cat litter made for multiple (More)
Prep Your Garden For Fall And Winter Our gardens let us know when it’s time to prepare for fall and winter. In warm regions, annuals start to turn brown and die, while in colder areas, freezing weather signals the end of the harvest. It’s tempting to take a break from outdoor chores when the seasons change, but it’s a good idea to take a few last steps to close the garden properly. Cleaning up now will make it faster and easier to plant again next spring. |
by keeping their toys and clothes picked up. Teenagers may be especially touchy about strangers invading their space, and may resist keeping their room in “showing” condition. It is also important when showing your home to give buyers the free space to look around without the family being there. How can you get the whole family involved in the sale? Include everyone in the discussions about the move and invite the children to participate in house hunting trips. Work with a Realtor who is comfortable with children and can remain sensitive to your children’s needs and concerns.
Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, said the growth in home prices gets down to supply and demand. "Housing inventories have been gradually trending down from a record set in the summer of 2007," he said. "Earlier this year, a broad equilibrium began to develop in most areas between home buyers and sellers, which led to a sustained upturn in home prices. We expect fairly normal appreciation patterns in 2013, but there is a risk of price acceleration if builders are unable to increase supply to meet the needs of our growing population and household formation." Teaching Your Puppy New Tricks Teaching your puppy new tricks can seem like a useless task. There are a few things to keep in mind which will make training your puppy to “act” on command much easier. It is important not to start too soon, but it is equally important not to wait to long. As you may well know, potty-training a puppy requires constant effort on your part. The same goes for teaching a puppy new tricks. Puppies learn by repetition; the more they do something, the more likely they are to remember what it is you expect them to do. Don’t give up on your puppy too soon. Just because he isn’t catching on in the first few days of training, don’t assume (More)
Once your plants have died or succumbed to the cold, take up their supports. If the stakes, cages, and trellises are still in good shape, pull off any clinging foliage or vines and store them out of the weather. Rake your garden spot to remove leaves and plant debris, including any unusable fruits and vegetables. Pull or dig stems and roots. If you see bugs or disease, don’t add the debris to the compost pile, where More |

Sudoku The New Addiction! Just in case you've never played before. The object of the game is to fit the numbers 1-9 in the correct orders. You need to fill a number from 1 to 9 in every blank cell. A number must appear only once in each row, column and 3x3 block. Sounds easy enough. Don't give up. Once you get the hang of it, its very fun and challenges your brain. (If you don't see the game on the left please try refreshing your screen. You can use F5 or your refresh button.) |
