Working With Your Preferences

Every purchase of a home involves a certain amount of compromise. When you are working with a Realtor, it is important that you give your agent a clear idea which of your criteria is flexible and which items you really must have in your new home.

If you prefer a specific location, for example, discuss why you want to live in that neighborhood. The agent might be able to suggest alternative areas that offer the same amenities or conveniences. How important is lot

Tax Credit Closing Deadline Extended (by Realtor.org)

July 01, 2010 The National Association of Realtors® today commended Congress for timely passage of two bills to extend the home buyer tax credit closing deadline and reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program. Both bills, strongly supported by NAR, had cleared the House earlier and were passed by the Senate last night. They now head to the president for his signature.

The tax credit closing deadline and the NFIP reauthorization were extended to September 30. NAR worked closely with congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle to enact these important pieces of legislation. Extending the tax credit closing and flood insurance deadlines will help provide additional stability to real estate markets across the nation, NAR said.

Finding Feline

If your kitty ever disappears, here are a few key things to remember on day one.

If it's daytime and your cat has been missing for only a short time, keep your search local at first. Most cats aren't on the move during the day. Think about good hiding places for cats; she'll have herself tucked away somewhere if she's frightened. Call to her with familiar words and sounds. Ask people in the area if they've seen her. If she hasn't turned up by nightfall, set out items that may draw her back by scent -- her food, your shoes, perhaps even her litter box.

The Edible Garden

  (by Home Depot)

With spring soon approaching, it’s time to decide what to sow in your garden. If you want to try your hand at growing your own vegetables, herbs and edible flowers, follow the lead of The New York Botanical Garden, the largest in any city in the United States. The New York Botanical Garden is home to a curated living collection of more than 1 million plants, including the fourth-largest herbarium in the world. Here are the expert tips you need to start your own edible garden.

size and square footage? Do you really need four bedrooms, or would three bedrooms work if there were a den for your home office? How much are you willing to correct with redecorating or remodeling? Are you willing to expand your price range by using an adjustable rate mortgage to increase your buying power?

We ask buyers a range of questions so that we can use their time most efficiently, showing them only houses that are real possibilities based on their preferences.

“What a great way to begin celebrating our nation’s most patriotic holiday by opening the door to the American dream of homeownership to thousands of home buyers who would have been shut out of the homes of their dreams through no fault of their own,” said NAR President Vicki Cox Golder, owner of Vicki L. Cox Real Estate in Tucson, Ariz.

“We know that up to 180,000 home buyers eligible for the tax credit are rejoicing this morning. And we all thank both houses of Congress for their work to ensure passage of both bills,” Golder said. She singled out Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.), Senator Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer  (More)

Top 4 Reasons Dog Dig

Is your dog's digging habit destroying your otherwise lovely yard? As naughty and spiteful as it might seem, dogs typically don't dig because they want to cause damage or get back at you for making them take a bath. Their wants are often less obvious, so you might need to dig a little deeper to uncover the real reason the dirt starts flying. Here are a few to consider:

He wants something to play with. If your dog spends long stretches of time outside by himself without any toys or companions, he might dig because he has nothing better to do.  (More)

produce fruit and flavorings such as maple syrup, and a vegetable garden that includes eggplants, onions, tomatoes, broccoli, chard, lettuce, garlic, radishes and zucchini. Committed to plants, local food and teaching the public how to grow their own sustenance, The New York Botanical Garden hosted an exhibit called The Edible Garden in the summer of 2009. Visitors toured existing gardens and special features established for the event, such as Martha Stewart’s Culinary Herb Garden and the Beginner’s Vegetable Garden.

Sudoku The New Addiction!

Just in case you've never played before. The object of the game is to fit the numbers 1-9 in the correct orders.

You need to fill a number from 1 to 9 in every blank cell.  A number must appear only once in each row, column and 3x3 block.

Sounds easy enough.

Don't give up. Once you get the hang of it, its very fun and challenges your brain.

(If you don't see the game on the left  please try refreshing your screen. You can use F5 or your refresh button.)
