A Word from Carol Children and Moves When you decide it’s time to move, it is important to involve your children in the process. Depending on the reason for the move and the distance, moving can cause some concerns for children that parents may not be sensitive to right away. Moving often means going to a new school, leaving favorite playmates, and feeling a lot of uncertainty about what the new neighborhood will be like. Things will go a lot easier if your children support your efforts to get your current home sold. It is important to encourage the children to participate in selling the house by keeping their toys and clothes picked up.
Sellers Struggle To Compete With Foreclosures (by Rismedia) RISMEDIA, July 7, 2009-(MCT)-Looking to move up, Cheryl and Jeff Wortzel put their Midtown, Tucson home on the market in December. With two young boys sharing a room, the Wortzels want more space than their two-bedroom home in the Blenman-Elm Neighborhood can offer. Six months, two price cuts and a handful of low-ball offers later, they are still trying to sell. “We are not in a rush, and we have a bottom line,” Jeff Wortzel said. “We can’t go to the next house until this one sells, and if we want to move, we have to be patient.”
Itchy Kitty? Prickly Feline Skin Problems Got a cat who's constantly scratching, licking, or biting himself? Think it might be fleas? That's a good guess -- and a good place to start. But if fleas don't seem to be the problem, your kitty's condition may be caused by one of the following: * Ringworm: Ringworm is not actually a worm, but a fungal infection, and one that can be spread to humans. So if your cat has the telltale circular lesions and bald spots of ringworm, take him to the vet for treatment as soon as possible. * Mites: Constant scratching, head shaking, and dark brown debris in your cat's ears may be a sign of ear mites. They're so tiny you won't be able to see them, but left untreated, they can lead to ruptured eardrums and seizures. Other types of mites can cause mange (scabies) and usually infect the outer ears, face, and neck. * Allergies: Like humans, cats can suffer allergic skin reactions to foods, fleas, pollens, molds, grasses, and dust. If all other irritants have been ruled out, talk to your vet about whether your kitty might be suffering from allergies. * Psychogenic alopecia: This is a fancy term for hair loss (alopecia) that's caused by stress-induced grooming and hair pulling. It's tricky to treat, because you're dealing with kitty's psyche. So start by thinking about what might be distressing your cat (a new pet or roommate, a change in environment, etc.). If your cat is battling itchy skin -- whatever the cause -- make an appointment with your vet to pinpoint the cause and get kitty some soothing relief sooner rather than later. Save More With The Right Sprinkler (by Home Depot) With proper watering habits and the right sprinkler system, you can enjoy a healthy lawn year after year. It’s important to know which style is ideal for your yard. You’ll want to consider a number of factors when choosing a new sprinkler. It may even be necessary to utilize more than one type to ensure that your yard is sufficiently covered. Check out this easy, interactive tool to help you select the right sprinkler head for your area. |
Teenagers may be especially touchy about strangers invading their space, and may resist keeping their room in “showing” condition. It is also important when showing your home to give buyers the free space to look around without the family being there. How can you get the
whole family
“This is one of the roughest resale markets that I’ve ever seen,” said prominent “green” builder John Wesley Miller, who is trying to divest a four-bedroom, three-bath Foothills home that he took in trade about a year ago as part of a sale. (More)
Sure, you'd like Fifi to share in the joys of the holiday table, but resist the urge to be generous. Foods and drinks you digest easily, like the following, can cause trouble for your pooch: Dinner rolls -- Dough expands in the stomach, creating distressing gas. Onions and garlic -- These flavor enhancers contain a compound that could damage a dog's red blood cells, causing anemia. Rich sauces -- Gravy upsets the stomach and may lead to pancreatitis. Bones -- Sharp pieces of bone can choke a dog or pierce or block her gastrointestinal tract. Alcohol -- Even slightly spiked eggnog can be toxic, so don't leave any drinks unattended.

Sudoku The New Addiction! Just in case you've never played before. The object of the game is to fit the numbers 1-9 in the correct orders. You need to fill a number from 1 to 9 in every blank cell. A number must appear only once in each row, column and 3x3 block. Sounds easy enough. Don't give up. Once you get the hang of it, its very fun and challenges your brain. (If you don't see the game on the left please try refreshing your screen. You can use F5 or your refresh button.) |
